The Volkswagen ID.4 marks the beginning of the brand's big move into building dedicated EVs. It turns out that China is getting an exclusive variant of the model that features slightly different styling than the standard version. The ID.4 X's front end has a different front fascia with larger openings in the corners than on China's ID.4 Crozz. The designers also fit new headlights with revised trim that looks like an eyebrow on the outer tips of them.

There are also alterations to the rear. The X's taillights have a light strip that runs the width of the vehicle and connects to the center portion of the main lamps. In comparison, the standard model puts the light strip along the upper portion of the taillights. The styling of the lower fascia also differentiates the vehicles, with the X using rounder shapes.

The first fully electric SUV from Volkswagen. Volkswagen’s electric offensive continues to pick up pace: following the ID.3, the ID.4 is the second model to be built based on the modular electric drive matrix (MEB) and is the brand’s first ever fully electric SUV. It transports this cleaner form of mobility out into the mountains and forests and demonstrates one of the company’s biggest strengths: the development of modern electric vehicles that bring together price, performance and sustainability for customers.

A milestone in the electric offensive. The ID.4 will be launched into the world’s largest market segment, the compact SUV class. It is produced and sold in China, the US and Europe and marks a strategic milestone in the Group’s electric offensive. Volkswagen plans to launch up to 75 fully electric models by 2029 and to sell around 26 million electric vehicles in this period. An entire ecosystem of sustainable electric mobility will be established around these cars. ID.4 customers will receive a vehicle that has been produced with a carbon-neutral balance. And if it is charged using sustainably produced electricity – like Volkswagen Naturstrom – it will remain carbon-neutral on the road too.

Parallel export of new cars
We provide parallel export of new cars. We have to provide purchase invoices for a new car, and ensure that the car has a mileage of 0 kilometers. In China, only automobile manufacturers are legally required to export manufactured new automobiles. Car dealers are only qualified to export second-hand cars, so when we export new cars, we only register them in the China Automobile Management Information System, and then export them as 0-kilometer second-hand cars. We compete with Chinese automobile manufacturers to export new cars at preferential prices. Our prices are cheaper than the export prices of automobile manufacturers because we get special purchasing prices, and our company’s export operation is efficient, which saves a lot of costs. The new cars we export in parallel are all exported in the form of second-hand cars with 0 kilometers.
